New for 2009-2010!

New Contractor: We are pleased to announce that starting August 2009, school bus service will be provided by FIRST STUDENT, a well-known, national company with many years experience in pupil transportation.  FIRST STUDENT'S lower price will allow the LSBP to maintain most of its routes next year.  Want to know more about FIRST STUDENT? Check out their website www.firststudentinc.com

New Buses: All buses will be new and will be equipped with 3-point seat belts.  Though school buses are the safest vehicles on the road without seat belts, the new seat belts will provide an added level of safety and security

"Clean" Diesel Buses  All buses will meet the tightest federal emissions standards and will run on ultra low sulfer diesel fuel.

GPS:  All buses will have a GPS tracking device that will help FIRST STUDENT to locate buses and to keep track of important maintenance and performance information.

PIEDMONT UNIFIED:  We will provide four buses to Piedmont Unified School District next year as they remodel and retrofit an elementary school.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The LSBP provides daily school bus service to 1500 K-8 students in the Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda and Acalanes Union School Districts. The program is run by a Joint Powers Authority (JPA), comprised of elected officials from the three cities and four school districts in Lamorinda. The purpose of the program is to reduce traffic congestion and to provide safe, convenient and reliable home-to-school transportation. DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES, under contract to the JPA, currently provides daily transportation.

The majority of our revenues come from Measure C, a 1/2 cent sales tax in Contra Costa County. This measure will expire in 2009, but will be followed by Measure J in 2009.

Special Note:  All drivers must pass a full Department of Justice background check and drug test before driving.  See the "About Us" section for more details.
